You, Me And Our Genus Twins

Chapter 519 Judge One by Their Status

"Stop..." being unreasonable. Noah didn't finish his sentence.

When he thought about what his mother had just said to him, the words stuck in his throat.

He used to think that he was Amy's best choice. No matter how he treated her, she would never break up with him because she liked him.

Now, however, he wasn't so sure.

He used to think that as the daughter of a mechanic, Amy had limited exposure to fine men, given her background and social circle. He was the most excellent man she could've met.

Once one had seen the best, why would they still be interested in the mediocre?

He had confidence that she would never fall in love with someone else.

But now, he wasn't sure about that anymore.

If Amy really was Ewan Bennett's sister, then she would have access to other men with better qualities who could easily surpass him.

Once she was recognized as Ewan's sister and the granddaughter of Matthew Bennett, the billionaire, many men with higher status than him would be eager to pursue her.

If he continued to treat her with his impatience like how he used to, he might really end up losing her.

He suppressed his anxiety and explained patiently to her, "Amy, please believe me. I have no feelings for Rebecca anymore. You are the only one in my heart now. I made the mistake of not realizing that you would've minded, but now that I do, I'll be careful and keep my distance from her. Will you give me another chance?"

"No," Amy spat coldly. "When did you suddenly become so patient with me? Whenever we argued in the past, you would hang up the phone before I finished speaking. Why are you being so nice today and having so much to tell me?"

"Because I don't want to break up with you. I like you, and I want to marry you. I made a mistake this time, and I apologize for it. Let's forget about the past and start over, shall we?" Noah suggested.

"Really?" She sneered. "I don't think so, though. I think it's because your mother called you just now and told you about my brother's identity. That's why you are being unusually patient with me today, aren't you?"

"It's not like that..." He felt embarrassed. "Amy, I really like you. If I cared about the external factors, I wouldn't have chosen you in the first place! I choose my future wife based on my feelings for her, not her status and position. I genuinely like you as a person."

"I believe that," Amy said, her heart filled with disappointment. "But what does it matter if you like me? Because of my background, you haven't given me enough respect. You always position yourself with a higher status than me, assuming that I can't live without you. In reality, you don't treat me as your girlfriend, but as a maid who can be summoned and dismissed at will!"

Noah clenched his teeth and rubbed his temples in frustration. "Amy, I admit that I haven't been patient enough with you in the past, but..."

You didn't tell me about your brother's identity, did you?

That was how society worked. Only with enough status and position could one expect corresponding patience and respect from others.

Amy didn't tell him about her brother's identity, so he underestimated her. It was only natural for him to feel that way.

However, his feelings for Amy were genuine.

He didn't deceive her but truly liked her.

It was only because of her humble background and low status that he couldn't help treating her lightly.

That wasn't entirely his fault, was it?

Although he didn't finish his sentence, Amy miraculously understood what he wanted to say.

"Are you blaming me for not telling you about my brother's identity?" Amy questioned with a wry smile. "What do you want me to say? Should I hold up a sign and announce to everyone around me who my grandfather is, who my brother is, how powerful and wealthy I am, and demand that they treat me well and never offend me? Don't you think that would make me look like an idiot?"

"Even if you don't do that, you should at least tell me that your brother is Ewan Bennett, not Ewan Atkinson!" Noah suppressed his dissatisfaction and tried to keep his tone calm. "You've always told me that your brother's name is Ewan Atkinson. Were you intentionally hiding it from me? Is it fun to pretend to be poor and surprise people?"

"I didn't hide it from you on purpose. Before my parents divorced, my brother's name was indeed Ewan Atkinson," Amy explained. "In my father's eyes, my brother will always carry the surname 'Atkinson', not 'Bennett'. If I dare to mention the name 'Bennett' in front of my father, he would flip the table. Over time, I stopped mentioning it.

"And besides, I think our relationship is only between the two of us. If you truly like me, you will treat me sincerely regardless of who my grandfather or brother is.

"Just because you didn't know who they are to me, you looked down on me. It only shows that you are not a man worthy of my trust for a lifetime."
