You More Than Anything In The World

Chapter 1269 Feeling Homesick

“Yup.” Benjamin nodded and responded briefly, knowing that she was curious.

Arissa continued to gaze at him intently. After being glared at by the man, she turned and looked in the direction of Darius.

Although Darius wanted to check in on Julian, he did not appear too worried about him.

Upon realizing so, Arissa felt much better. At least Dad hasn't let his age addle his senses. Anyhow, what wicked things has Julian done lately to get beaten up by someone?

Unbeknownst to her, Julian had kidnapped Tim and Zachary. Otherwise, there was no way she could have stayed so calm.

Benjamin patted the back of her head when he noticed how distracted she was. “Eat your breakfast, and don't overthink things.”

Arissa pursed her lips and channeled her focus back to her food.

Darius observed the duo. He was relieved that Arissa did not sense anything amiss. Thank God Issa doesn't know about it. Otherwise, she won't be able to get a good rest here.

After breakfast, Arissa requested Benjamin to send the children to school. Darius, on the other hand, went to check up on Julian, leaving Mary behind to keep Arissa company.

Arissa noticed that Mary seemed a little lost. She had a bad feeling about it, so she asked, “What's wrong, Grandaunt?”

Her question brought Mary back to her senses, and the latter pretended as if nothing had happened. “Oh, nothing.”

Arissa continued observing her. A moment later, Mary spaced out again.

Worried that Mary was hiding something from her and dared not speak to her about it, Arissa spoke up. “Grandaunt, I see that you keep getting lost in thought. You can tell me anything. Please don't be a stranger.”

Mary was worried about the children. Since Arissa kept probing, she resorted to simply coming up with an excuse. “I... I'm a little homesick.”

Arissa was stunned for a second. She then recalled it had been months since Mary followed them to Dellmoor.

As an elderly, Grandaunt hasn't been away from home for such a long time. I'm sure she misses home a lot. It's my bad for neglecting my family members recently.

“Grandaunt, I'll have someone take you home. You can stay there for several days before making a trip back here,” Arissa suggested thoughtfully. She truly believed that Mary was homesick.

“No worries, I just miss it occasionally. Even when I go back, I'll think about the children. They are in school now, and you are hospitalized, so someone has to take care of them. I can always go back later on.”

Mary did not want to trouble Arissa. Moreover, her health was a lot better now. Hence, she wanted to stay on longer and take care of the kids.

“No worries, for Dad and Mr. Whitley are around. Why don't you make a trip home with the kids during the weekend? That way, they can also chill and relax in the countryside.” Arissa made a good suggestion to have the children follow Mary home for a couple of days to have fun.

Mary was tempted by the idea. However, it was not school holidays yet. Thus, she was hesitant to make the children travel back and forth for the weekend.
