After Alyssa finished speaking, she looked at Angela again.

Angela hugged Emmett's neck and tilted her head as she sweetly called out, "Pretty sister."

"Yes." Alyssa replied and her voice unconsciously became gentle, "Angela, you can't run around like today anymore in the future."

Only at this time did Emmett find out why he was so familiar with this woman in front of him.

He remembered that day when he was waiting for the red light at the intersection, Angela also called her "Pretty Sister.”

In the past three years, many socialites and ladies were committed to approaching him, trying to present themselves with various ways.

He himself did not know why, but he was not interested in those so-called "beauties" at all. Looking at them, he felt that they all looked the same.

Even Angela's biological mother, Marilyn, could not arouse any interest from him.

If he did not ask someone to compare his and Angela's DNA, he would not have believed that he had actually been with Marilyn once.

Compared to the last time he saw her, the woman in front of his eyes had changed a lot and looked much more pleasing to the eye.

The last time he only took a quick glance. He only remembered that she was a skinny woman with a face as white as a ghost. She was as ugly as she could be.

Now, it seemed that she had grown some flesh.

However...

Emmett's gaze fell on Alyssa's slender wrist that was exposed. He suspected that he could crush her wrist bones with just a light pinch.

Emmett's gaze was too sharp, as if it was real knifes, sticking to her. Alyssa felt uncomfortable when he looked at her.

She could only change the topic and asked, "Mr. Lawrence, when you. . . were on the phone before, how did you know Angela found an older sister to help her make a call?"

Emmett restrained his gaze and looked at her face. His tone was indifferent. "She calls everyone who is taller than her sister. And she only talks to elder sisters."

The truth was that Angela would call whoever of the same sex "pretty elder sister" no matter how old she was when she saw those who thought they were pretty.

And Angela would specially talk to her “pretty sisters.”

"So that's how it is." Alyssa nodded.

The phone in her bag suddenly vibrated. Alyssa took it out and saw that it was Hazel calling.

She held the phone but did not pick it up. She raised her head and hurriedly said to Emmett, "Mr. Lawrence, I really do not need any remuneration. You must take care of your daughter in the future. She is still too young. I will leave first."

After she finished speaking, she looked at Angela again and left.

As she walked, she took out her phone to answer Hazel's phone.

"Sorry, I forgot to call you back." She was playing with Angela before, so she had forgotten about this matter.

It was at that moment that she realized that she actually liked children so much.

"It's okay. Are you home?"

"I'm going back now."

Alyssa had just hung up Hazel's phone when Sampson called again.

It was very quiet over the phone. "Where are you?"

Alyssa looked at the time and found that it was already past six o'clock. She said, "I am still outside, but just about to take a taxi back. Have you already gone home?"

Sampson hummed and said, "Send me the address. I will come to pick you up."

"No need. Take a rest. I'll take a taxi back and be back soon." Alyssa knew that if Sampson continued talking to her, she would not be able to convince him, so she hung up the phone.

It was peak hour after work and it was not easy to take a taxi.

The situation got even worse. Before Alyssa could call the car, a thunderbolt flashed in the sky and it started to rain.

Perhaps because, it was the last thunderstorm at the end of summer, it came in a threatening manner. The raindrops, as big as beans, hit directly in her face, making her face hurt.

Alyssa's thin clothes were drenched by the rain in less than two hits. She found an advertisement slot and hid under it, but it was useless.

Her phone rang again at this time.

Alyssa squinted her eyes and looked at it. It was a string of numbers without a name.

That was Emmett's phone number that she had called before. But she did not save it.

She hesitated for a moment before picking up the phone.

"Mr. Lawrence, is there anything else?"

The man's voice was low and heavy. It was accompanied by the sound of the rain hitting her eardrums. "Get in the car and sit in the passenger seat. I can't park here."

Alyssa heard a "beep" as soon as he finished speaking.

When she raised her eyes, she saw a black car just pulling over before her. The car honked again in case she did not notice its existence.

Alyssa bit her lips and held the bag to her head. She hurriedly walked over and pulled open the passenger door before sitting in.

She had just sat down when she heard Angela's baby voice from behind, "Pretty sister!"

Alyssa turned around and saw Angela sitting in the children's safety seat in the back. She had a bottle of milk in her mouth and smiled until her eyes curved into crescent moons.

Alyssa smiled and called out, "Angela."

Emmett was driving his way, and could not help but turn his head to look at Alyssa when he heard her.

She was only a little more pleasing to the eye than other women. But why did Angela like her so much?

Angela, who was sitting in the back row, held up the milk in her hands and said to Alyssa, "Drink."

A child's mind was very simple. If she liked someone, she would be willing to share toys and food with them.

"I don't need it. You can drink it yourself, Angela."

When Angela heard her say so, she continued to drink the milk with her hands holding tightly on the bottle.
