A strange feeling rose in Emmett's heart, as if. . . he couldn't bear to see it.

He felt that this thought in his heart was a little ridiculous.

There was nothing special about this woman. Why did he feel so bad to see her caught in the rain?

By the time he realized what had happened, he had already gotten out of the car with his umbrella.

He walked in big steps and caught up to Alyssa.

"Miss Moore." He called her once and then could not help but curl his lips at himself. However, there was no smile in his eyes.

Alyssa used a bag to cover her head and ran into the residential area. She heard footsteps behind her, but she did not expect Emmett to chase after her.

"Mr. Lawrence, why are you here?"

Alyssa had just finished speaking when she heard another familiar male voice behind her.

"Alyssa."

Alyssa only had time to glance at Emmett. She turned her head to look at the other side and saw Sampson.

"Sampson? Why did you come out?"

Sampson was wearing a soft leisure wear. He held a well-made checkered umbrella and slowly walked towards her.

Emmett's deep and cold voice came from behind her. "Is he your friend?"

"Yes. He is my. . . fiancé." Alyssa could not understand the reason for this short hesitation.

As soon as she said that, Alyssa felt the pressure around her become lower.

She turned to look at Emmett in confusion.

However, Emmett did not have any expression on his face. There was no change in his expression. She could not guess his mood right mood.

In that instant, she must have felt it wrong.

At this time, Sampson had already walked in front of the two of them.

He looked at Alyssa and Emmett, and his gaze was as secretive as it could be.

Immediately after, he turned to Alyssa and said, "Alyssa, come here."

Alyssa heard him and lifted her foot to walk under Sampson's umbrella.

However, she had only taken one step when she felt her wrist being grabbed.

She turned her head to look and found a man's hand on her wrist.

The hand was thick and strong with an unbreakable strength. It was neither light nor heavy as it wrapped around her wrist. His hand was a little hot. It was so hot that it seemed to seep into her blood through her skin.

"Mr. Lawrence, is there anything wrong?" Alyssa struggled for a while but could not shake off Emmett's hand.

He did not seem to be using much strength, but it was difficult for her to break free.

Mr. Lawrence looked so difficult to get along with. But right now how could he not let go of her now?

Emmett lowered his eyes to look at her. Alyssa's face was unusually pale. Compared to normal people, she looked a little sickly. It was just that her cat-like eyes that staring at him through the rainy night were inexplicably alluring.

Emmett felt that he had really gone mad.

When he heard Alyssa say that she had a fiancé, he felt inexplicably angry.

What was even more ridiculous was that when Alyssa was about to leave, he subconsciously reached out and pulled her back.

Even he did not know why.

Sampson's gaze fell on Emmett’s hand that was holding Alyssa's hand. In the blink of an eye, he moved his gaze away and looked at Emmett's face. "Sir, please let her go."

Emmett frowned slightly but still let go of Alyssa.

The moment Alyssa was released, she immediately walked under Sampson's umbrella.

Sampson moved the umbrella around her. Alyssa smiled at him and looked up at Emmett. "Mr. Lawrence, this is my fiancé, Sampson West."

After that, she said to Sampson, "Hazel and I went shopping today when I met Mr. Lawrence's daughter in the mall. . ."

She explained the situation to Sampson very concisely.

After Sampson heard her, he gave her a comforting smile. He turned to Emmett and said, "Thank you, Mr. Lawrence, for sending my fiancée back."

Emmett did not have any expression to begin with. He did not say a word hearing Sampson’s words. He only coldly glanced at Alyssa, then turned around and left.

He held the pure black umbrella. His tall and straight figure was hidden in the curtain of rain, looking a little lonely.

Alyssa muttered, "He really has a strange temper."

Suddenly, a gust of wind blew over. Alyssa's clothes were already soaked through and she was so cold that she shivered.

Sampson noticed her reaction and reached out to put his arm around her shoulder. He said in a low voice, "Let's go back."

"Yes." She replied and turned her head to look at his hand on her shoulder. She quietly moved to the side away from his body.

She was still not used to have physical contact with Sampson.

She did not know if Sampson felt her resistance, but he released his hand in the next second.

When Emmett returned to the car, Angela just woke up from her nap.

She was holding an empty milk bottle and staring up blankly at the top of the car.

When she saw Emmett come in, she turned her eyes to look at him and called out softly, "Daddy."

Emmett closed the door and turned back to look at Angela.
