Kathleen's expression changed slightly. She did not know about this matter.

According to her and Marilyn's plan, since Emmett did not remember what happened in the past anyway, they simply lied to Emmett and made him think that Angela's biological mother was Marilyn. Then why not let the lie grow as it did?

And with her helping Marilyn, Marilyn did not need to do anything to Angela.

"Marilyn should be just a moment of carelessness. . . Besides, didn't Angela also be brought back by you now? I think she's fine too. . ."

This matter was ultimately Marilyn's fault. Although Kathleen subconsciously wanted to speak up for Marilyn, she had not finished speaking when she saw Emmett's cold expression and could only tremble.

At this time, Kathleen's phone suddenly rang.

"Kathleen, did Angela go home? I brought her out today and she ran off on her own after a moment of mischief. I still haven't found her. . ." Marilyn did not finish her words and she was already out of breath from crying.

Kathleen looked up at Emmett and still said, "She has come back."

Marilyn's tone did not hide the surprise in it. "Really? I will come over immediately!"

Kathleen hung up the phone and thought for a while before she said to Emmett, "If you have anything to say, say it in person. Marilyn will be here in a moment. After all, she is Angela's biological mother. If something like this happens, she will definitely not feel good either. . ."

Emmett just looked at her expressionlessly and did not say anything.

Marilyn came very quickly.

She looked extremely messed up. Her hair and clothes were soaked through by the rain and the makeup on her face was also ruined. Her pale face made Kathleen feel pity in her heart.

After all, Marilyn and she were good friends for many years. Seeing Marilyn like this, she hurriedly instructed the maid, "Quickly make a cup of hot tea and bring a blanket over."

"There's no need." Marilyn shook her head in a daze. When she saw Emmett, her eyes lit up and she walked straight towards him.

She reached out to touch Emmett's hand but was dodged by Emmett who took half a step.

"Emmett, have you really found Angela? It's all my fault. . . I was too careless. . ." Marilyn's eyes turned red as she spoke.

Her eyes were full of tears, but she was very stubborn and did not let her tears flow out. Her sad expression seemed to look very real.

Emmett looked at her coldly. His gaze was incomparably sharp.

Being stared at by his pitch-black eyes, Marilyn had a feeling that she was being seen through.

She blinked her eyes and tears rolled out like broken pearls. "Emmett, where is Angela? I want to see her."

The coldness in Emmett's eyes intensified. He said three words coldly, "How dare you mention her?"

Marilyn's expression changed. “Emmett, you. . . won't forgive me?"

“Do you deserve it?” Emmett said and suddenly raised his hand and waved at the bodyguard behind him.

In the next moment, the bodyguard handed him a check and a pen.

Emmett took the pen and wrote a long string of numbers on the check. He then threw it directly to Marilyn. "Angela has nothing to do with you from now on. And stay away from the Lawrences."

The check lightly hit on Marilyn's body and then fell to the ground.

Marilyn looked at the check that fell to the ground in disbelief. She did not expect Emmett to be so heartless.

No, he was more than just heartless.

He was clearly insulting her.

Did he think that it was for money that she tried so hard to marry him?

She did not lack money at all!

Kathleen was also angered by Emmett's actions. She pointed at him with a trembling finger and said, "Emmett! How dare you treat Marilyn like that? Apologize to her!"

Emmett was never someone who was manipulated by others.

In the past, he was not even afraid to go against Winston, let alone Kathleen.

As if he did not hear Kathleen's words, he turned around and went to the dining room.

The maids could not prevent themselves and always indulged Angela in eating ice cream.

When Emmett went to the dining room, he saw a group of maids surrounding Angela. They wanted to take the ice cream from her hands and were coaxing her nicely.

Emmett walked over and called out with his usual emotionless voice, "Angela."

Angela, who was enjoying the ice cream, heard this voice and her small hands trembled. She quickly hid the ice cream box in her hands behind her back. She looked up and tried to please him. With a fawning smile, she sweetly called out, "Daddy."

Emmett crossed his arms and stood in front of her. He looked down at her.

Angela pursed her small lips. She opened her eyes wide and looked innocent, but soon she was quickly defeated under Emmett's gaze.

She took the ice cream box to her and handed it to Emmett.

Emmett did not reach out to take it. His tone was indifferent. "How much did I say you are allowed to eat just now?"

Angela said softly, "Half a box. . ."
