Chasing Back My Ex-wife
Chapter 39
"Clean up this." Lucy said to the waiter.
"Don't... don't worry about me. I can still drink!" Kylah was so drunk that her speech was slurred.
Lucy snatched her glass away and placed it on the table. "You can't drink anymore!"
She paid the bill and walked Kylah out.
However, Kylah wasn't cooperating at all. She kept pulling back and said, "I...I'm not drunk. I want to drink more!"
"Kylah, be good. You can carry on drinking when we get home!" Lucy tried her best at coaxing her. They were almost at the door and her car was parked nearby.
However, Kylah was being stubborn and refused to budge.
Kylah was strong, and Lucy lost her balance.
Just as she thought she would fall down, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, and she fell into a familiar embrace——
It was Arthur!
"You can't even walk properly. What are you even good at?" Arthur's expression was stormy, and he had dark circles under his eyes.
Lucy tried to break free from his embrace, but he was too strong. She couldn't pull away at all. "Arthur, you're hurting me!"
He immediately loosened his grip, but his arms were still around her like jail bars.
Chad strolled over and glanced at Lucy and Arthur, who were in each other's arms. He clicked his tongue and said, "Arthur, you can sprint so fast that you'll break the world record! You were so far away just now, but you still managed to catch Lucy!"
Lucy's heart skipped a beat. She raised her head and looked at Arthur. He had run over to catch her? Did...did he actually feel worried about her?
"Shut up, Chad!" Arthur shot him a warning glare.
However, he was blushing, so his glare didn't look that threatening.
Chad raised his eyebrows and whistled. "Oh dear, look, Lucy. Arthur's embarrassed... Goodness, Arthur, why did you kick me? My pants were custom-made!"
He lowered his head and looked at the footprint on his pants. His heart ached and his cheeky look was gone.
Arthur lowered his foot and looked at Chad coldly. If he had a needle and some thread, he would have sewn Chad's mouth shut then and there!
"Splash!"
Suddenly, Kylah vomited while bracing herself against the wall.
"Kylah!" Lucy tried to pry his hands off her waist. "Arthur, let go of me!"
Arthur did not let go. He said to Chad, "Carry her on your back."
"Arthur, are you kidding me? I'm so handsome, elegant, and noble. How could you ask me to carry a drunkard? Isn't that too..." The rest of his sentence was cut off.
Under Arthur's threatening gaze, the handsome Chad accepted reality and carried a drunkard on his back.
Seeing this, Lucy couldn't object anymore. "Sorry for the trouble, Mr. Shaffer."
Chad smiled flatteringly. "It's my honor to help you! What's the big deal about carrying someone?"
As soon as he finished speaking—
"Splash!"
Kylah vomited, and her smelly barf splashed onto Chad's chest.
Chad was speechless.
He felt as though the world was against him. He wanted to cry!
"I'm sorry, Kylah drank too much." Lucy finally managed to pry Arthur's hands off. "Let me help her!"
Standing behind her, Arthur shot Chad a warning glare.
"Don't worry about it, Lucy. Kylah's such a beauty. Carrying her is my pleasure!" Chad felt like crying. Arthur was the perfect example of a man who put his woman before his buddies!
Hearing this, Lucy got a better impression of Chad, whom she wasn't very familiar with. "Thank you then!"
Arthur snorted. He had just saved her, but why didn't she thank him? She was so biased!
"Lucy, I'll send Kylah home. Have fun with Arthur!" Sensing Arthur's jealousy, Chad thought he'd better distance himself from Lucy.
Arthur found Chad nicer than he usually was.
"Let's take Kylah to my place first. I'll go with you!" Lucy turned him down. She didn't feel at ease leaving a drunk Kylah to someone she didn't know that well.
Moreover, she did not want to be alone with Arthur.
Chad gave Arthur a helpless look. He had tried his best, so Arthur couldn't blame him this time!
The three of them drove to Lucy's house and took Kylah into the master bedroom.
"Lucy, could I take a shower at your place?" Chad had bore it the entire way and his face was pale. Kylah's vomit was just too stinky!
Lucy agreed and pointed to the washroom. "That way."
