"Enough!" Lucy's expression changed abruptly as someone rubbed salt into her wound so carelessly. She clenched her fists tightly, suppressing the urge to slap him in the face.

No wonder Chad would help Arthur confess so exaggeratedly. His main goal was to mock her in person and amuse himself, wasn't it?

Lucy bit her lip hard and walked into the office building, her face pale.

How ridiculous! Everyone who knew Arthur would know that she was nothing more than a replacement and a s*x toy!

In those three years she had been with Arthur, how many people had seen her as a joke?!

"Lucy! Lucy, wait up! You're going to sprain your ankle walking so fast in high heels!" Chad shouted while following her.

He hadn't started talking about Arthur's good side yet!

"Security, there's someone harassing me. Please stop him." Lucy forced a smile and told two security guards exhaustedly.

She really had no strength to deal with Chad. As long as he had Arthur as his trump card, she would lose miserably!

The security guards nodded and stepped forward to stop Chad.

"Get out of my way. I have something to say to my sister-in-law!" Chad was anxious. He hadn't even started telling her about Arthur's good traits! If Arthur were to find out, he would surely skin him alive!

The security guards reached out to stop him and persuaded him politely, "Sir, if Ms. Morgan is your sister-in-law, then it's even more inappropriate for you to act like this. You're good-looking, and you look rich too. Finding a woman wouldn't be hard for you, would it? Why do you have to cling to your sister-in-law so relentlessly?"

Lucy got into the elevator absent-mindedly. The past grudges between Arthur and her flashed across her mind one by one like scenes from a movie.

She had asked herself many times before. How would her life be if she hadn't met Arthur?

Just as the elevator arrived, Lucy's phone vibrated several times.

She shook her dizzy head and glanced t her phone. It was a text from Maddox.

"How about lunch together?"

Lucy was about to reply okay when she recalled Arthur's warning. "If you want the Pate Group to go bankrupt, then go ahead and keep in contact with Maddox!"

A strong feeling of helplessness washed over her. She went blank for a while before replying.

"Sorry, Maddox. I'm very busy lately. Let's have lunch when I'm free."

Lucy stood outside until her legs went numb before finally going into the office.

Seeing that Lucy was in a bad mood, Diane didn't dare to say hi. She tried her best to make herself invisible.

Lucy let out a long sigh and leaned back against her chair.

She took out her phone and searched the Pate Group up.

"The Pate Group rises from the ashes, rising steadily in the stock market."

"The Pate Group's shareholder meeting bears fruit. Several major shareholders return."

After confirming that the Pate Group was fine, Lucy felt relieved and continued looking through her documents.

In the evening, Kylah asked her out for steamboat.

Not long after she took a seat, Maddox walked in holding a briefcase.

He was wearing a white shirt and a gray suit that day. He had the perfect broad shoulders, slim waist, and long legs. A handsome man like him attracted gazes from many of the female customers immediately.

When she saw him, Lucy's smile dimmed slightly. Arthur's threats and Maddox's feelings for her made Lucy not know how to act.

"Sorry, there was some business at the office." Maddox smiled and sat beside Lucy naturally.

"It's alright, don't worry about it!" Ever since Kylah had seen the hickeys on Lucy's neck, she thought she should rush things between her and Maddox. "As long as you made it. Right, Lucy?"

Just so they could be romantic, she hadn't even brought Caden along! Lucy mustn't ruin things!

"Yup," Lucy said unenthusiastically. She glanced around, afraid that she would run into Arthur there.

Seeing this, Maddox asked kindly, "Is someone else coming?"

"No!" Kylah fought to answer. She said cheekily, "Except you and I, Lucy isn't close with anyone else!"

As soon as she finished speaking.

"Sis-in-law!"

With a cheerful expression, Chad strolled over.

Hearing the way Chad addressed her, Maddox looked at him with a frown.
