Yates paused mid-sentence.

"So what are we really watching for?" Kane, always a bit slow on the uptake, looked confused.

"We're waiting to see if Timothy actually cares about that so-called wife of his."

Kane burst out laughing. "Honestly, I doubt there's anything to see. You keep talking about waiting for fireworks, but I don't think this is going to catch fire at all." Yates raised an eyebrow. "Well, we'll find out soon enough once we're inside." Their whispered conversation didn't escape Sheila's notice. In fact, she was just as curious to know where Jessica really stood in Timothy's heart.

Ever since that stormy night in the capital, she'd been uneasy. If, after all these years, Timothy had developed real feelings for Jessica, she couldn't afford to wait any longer.
