Chapter 126
When Mr. Bartley and his wife heard the news, they were like deer caught in headlights.
The K Group of Skyrim? Emeric’s daughter?
“Are you really the chairman’s daughter?” Mr. Bartley asked Evadne in shock.
“Correct. You can confirm with these two gentlemen.”
Evadne gestured towards Thaddeus and Frederic and smiled, “I’ve had some dealings with the Abernathy family, and they can vouch for my identity.”
Thaddeus had a heavy look in his eyes.
She hesitated to call them “acquaintances” because she didn’t feel close to them.
“Guys, turns out Ms. Evadne is an acquaintance of yours.”
Upon hearing she was Emeric’s daughter, Mr. Bartley, the government official, immediately perked up, “I had no idea about your identity. My bad.”
He then shook hands with Evadne.
“Mr. Bartley. I wonder, do I now have the creds to discuss a collaboration with you?” Evadne asked with a smile, her eyes exuding confidence.
Mr. Bartley seemed a tad flustered.
He thought this young woman had a presence that commanded respect.
Thaddeus was ticked off, clenching his fist in annoyance.
Now that she was a big shot from the Ashbourne family, did she think she could call the shots?
Did she think doing business is like a walk in the park, and she could just jump in whenever she pleased?

“Ms. Evadne, nice meeting you, but Mr. Bartley and I have important matters to discuss. This is not something you can simply barge into, so could you kindly buzz off?” Frederic said with a smile on his face but a chill in his eyes.
Glynnis was seething, but Elspeth held her back.
Mr. Frederic would handle Evadne. There was no need for Glynnis to step in.
“I know you guys have important things to discuss, but if it wasn’t for Westguard, I wouldn’t be here.” Evadne said calmly, “I don’t get it why I can’t participate. The Ashbourne group is not lacking in resources or funds compared to the Abernathy group. We are just as capable of handling the projects as the Abernathy Group can. Shopping around is always a good idea. I’m just giving Mr. Bartley another option, what’s wrong with that?”
Mr. Bartley was taken aback. She really meant business.
Frederic and Elspeth both looked pretty grim at this point.
“Ms. Evadne.” Thaddeus, who had been quiet, stepped forward. His gaze was intense and his shadow fell over her slender figure. “The Abernathy Group has already reached a preliminary agreement with Mr. Bartley. We’ve squared away all the details, and we’ve met all the requirements for the development of Westguard. You suddenly stepped in, trying to sabotage our deal. Don’t you think that’s unethical and way out of line?”
Evadne looked up, her stunning face adorned with a small smile, “Sabotage? You’re right, I’m here to mess up your deal.”
“Evadne!” Thaddeus’ eyes widened, his teeth gritted.
“But you’re wrong by saying I’m unethical.” Evadne took a step back to escape his oppressive aura. “Business ethics has always been a game of the victors. If the Abernathy Group had already signed the contract, then yeah, I’d be crossing a line. But as of now, the Abernathy Group has yet to sign anything with Mr. Bartley, so who gets to draw the line is still up for grabs.”
Thaddeus squinted, irritated by her words.
She was right. Anything could happen before a contract was signed. He had lived by this principle for years, crushing countless companies in his wake.
He didn’t expect that one day, he would find himself in the same predicament.
To add insult to injury, his opponent was his ex-wife!
“Ms. Evadne, I don’t think Mr. Bartley will collaborate with you.” Fed up with her arrogant demeanor, Elspeth sneered, “After all, Mr. Bartley and the Abernathy Group have years of partnership under our belt. We’ve always maintained a good relationship, which is something a nobody like you could never compete with. Even if you want to discuss a collaboration, you just rushed here all by yourself, without making an appointment, and you crashed our party to see Mr. Bartley. It’s really disrespectful and rude.”
“Exactly!” Glynnis murmured in agreement.
“Ah, I know I came abruptly, but there was no other way. I was afraid if I were a step behind, Mr. Bartley would regret it.” Evadne feigned helplessness with a sigh.
“Regret? What do you mean?” Elspeth snapped.
Evadne completely ignored her, addressing Mr. Bartley instead, “Mr. Bartley, are you really not considering a collaboration with the Ashbourne Group? You’re not discriminating against me because I’m a girl with no influence in the group, right? I’m here on my brother, Cas sius, the president of the K Group. He has given me full authority on this matter. if you don’t believe me, I can arrange a meeting with President Ashbourne right away.”
“Ms. Evadne, it’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that I’ve got a long history with the Abernathy Group, and we’ve worked together many times before. I trust them completely.” Mr. Bartley gently turned her down. “Plus, this project is in Elmsworth, and the Abernathy Group is a big name here. So maybe next time, we can work together.”
At that moment, Frederic and Elspeth were wearing smug looks on their faces.
This young woman just waltzed in here, thinking she could swoop in and sn atch the project from the Abernathy Group. Dream on!
“Alright. I get it. You don’t want to upset your old pals. But I can promise you one thing if you work with the Ashbourne Group.” Evadne started to smirk mysteriously. “You definitely won’t regret it.”
Suddenly, Thaddeus felt a chill run down his spine.
Her expression, tone, and gaze! She was up to something!
“Ms. Evadne, what are you implying? Is there some problem with working with the Abernathy Group?” Elspeth asked sharply, frowning.
“Mr. Jason, what time is it?” Evadne suddenly asked.
