House Of Legions (The Angel Descendants book 1)
Chapter 79 (Clare)
The Jakensons palace was across the bayou, it was one of the few places in Khiron that were actually built with brick. The palace was newly built and the exterior of one that you would see out of the realms. It was white with a red rippled roof, and red window panes. On the entrance of the doors and windows, were bright small lights that could be spotted clearly from where Clare was.
The palace was a far distance from the bayou waters. As she got nearer to the palace, Clare could hear the hard rock music playing, and catch glimpses of people dancing outside the palace. The engine blades cut through the water, bumping her up a few times here and there. Her hair blew back, pulling her as it was very long. She'd meant to cut it this year but kept putting it off, now it was bum length and full of big heavy curls. Alonso stared at her for a moment, she caught him, asking hastily, “Drunk?”
“Nah, I’m just wondering, whether you scared, or nervous, about tomorrow?”
She felt a bit flushed, “I never thought about it that way” she was standing next to him, their shoulders bumped, every few minutes, “I just imagine my brother, all alone in some scary place, if dying is what it takes to save him, it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.”
“Clare I know some of us are going to die, I just hope you aren't one of them.” The words he said, with a smile across his face, made her stomach tickle, it didn’t sound convincing, she brushed it off.
Alonso turned away from Clare “We here”.
She lifted her dress and jumped carefully out of the boat. She was almost on the grass when she noticed Nathan approaching her with excessive speed, he was screaming something but she couldn’t quite make out what the fuss was about. She stood there waiting for him, she turned on her right and saw Nadia, who was also walking toward her.
She heard Nathan screaming louder, “Clare RUN, RUN Clare.”
Her heart began pounding, she started running, but a hard thing hit her head, sending her falling hard on the sand. It took her a minute to register that somebody was pulling her legs, she started screaming, she told herself, ‘Focus Clare’.
were already stretched out in the front of her. She clutched her fingers tight, making a fist, like she was about to do a push-up, and twisted her body using her hips. The person still dragged her on the sand, but her back now faced the ground. Looking behind her, she spotted Nathan, he was fighting three other guys. She looked in the front to see who was pulling her, her heart almost collapsed, it was Alonso, what was going on? She bent her legs towards her chest, with tremendous speed. He held onto her legs, and she
