"Actually, everyone, Mr. Daniel of the Wilder family of Somerton has some connection with us," Alvern said loudly to the guests as he held Daniel's hand.

The guests were suddenly in an uproar.

The Langley family was not very famous. It was a shock that they had any sort of connection with the Wilder family.

If the Wilder family gave them just the slightest bit of a boost, the Langley family would be able to soar to unimaginable heights.

"Daniel isn't just here to celebrate my birthday tonight. We have another important matter to settle," Alvern said.

"Mr. Langley, what is the matter?" someone asked inquisitively.

Alvern looked around and paused.

"Some of you might have already heard whispers of it. Dustin Fox, Simone's fiance from the branch family, beat Daniel up for no reason a few days ago and injured him severely."

The guests' expressions turned stiff.

Indeed, there were whispers of the incident. The whole thing had shaken up Hattan.

It seemed that there would be some interesting developments to that story tonight.

"When it comes down to it, Dustin is still a member of the branch family. We are remorseful that he dared to attack Daniel. Dustin has always been a reckless person with no regard for the law. We never imagined that he would dare to lay a hand on Daniel. It was our fault for not keeping him in line. We are very sorry," Alvern said sorrowfully.

"It's not your fault. That man was not raised well. You couldn't have done anything to help him,” Daniel said with a smile. "I've always known not to resent the wrong people. This is on him. I won't drag others into it."

"Thank you for your gracious understanding, Daniel," Alvern said. Then, his face turned icy. "But the Langley family cannot sit by and leave this matter unaddressed."

"Shouldn't you stand up, Dustin Fox?" Alvern suddenly turned and shouted at Dustin with a glare.

Everyone looked at Dustin.

Dustin did not move.

"Insolence!" Alvern shouted again. His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

"Insolence!" Darren, Conan, Luna, and the others all cried out.

"You awful, arrogant, and cheeky piece of trash!" Alvern cursed as he pointed at Dustin. "It's bad enough that you go against the Langley family's rules, but you dare to attack Daniel as well? Where do youget the audacity?

"Don't you know that doing such a thing is like single-handedly ruining our family's

reputation? It's a disgrace that Simone has you for a fiance!"

Alvern's voice was loud as he scolded Dustin in public.
