Chapter 504
Serenity had a vague answer in her mind, but her guess was so crazy and seemingly unbelievable.
As she was pondering over it, her phone rang. Serenity looked at the caller. It was Clara’s number, so she answered it.
“Serenity! Yanny will be out of the hospital tomorrow. Can you come to work the day after tomorrow? I’d like to clean up th restaurant the day after tomorrow and reopen the next day,” Clara informed.
“Alright, sure,” Serenity responded. Speaking of which, it was rare for her to have such a long break ever since she had gotten out of prison.
“Great,” Clara responded. “By the way, Yanny wants to speak to you. Try and say something to him.”
Serenity was stunned for a moment. She then spoke into the phone, “Yanny? Hi! It’s Aunt Serene. Can you hear me?”

“I’ll be seeing you again the day after tomorrow. I’ll tell you lots of stories once you can understand and speak, okay?”
Serenity knew Yanny probably would not understand a word she was saying. Even so, she was full of hope.
After she was done speaking, a young child’s voice rang from the other end of the phone. “Serene. Aunt Serene.
Serenity could hardly believe her ears. What had she just heard?! Was Yanny talking to her? Before getting the surgery, Yanny could only respond to her with some meaningless syllables like “ooh’ and “ahh”. Was he really calling out to her?!
“Serenity.” Clara’s voice rang, from the phone again.
“Clare! Did Yanny really just… Did he say something to me? Can he finally talk?” Serenity asked in surprise.
“Yeah, but it’s only a few words. We’ll need more time and patience,” Clara said, her tone clearly filled with joy and pride. The doctor said Yanny would learn to speak relatively quickly.”
How could Clara not be proud? Since her son had gotten the cochlear implants, his speech had improved rapidly. Even the doctors had praised his 10, saying he was undeniably gifted in speech. Yanny could have been ahead of other children his age in speaking if not for the inability to hear before.
“That’s wonderful!” Serenity was happy for Clara and Yanny.
When the call ended, Serenity thought of getting Yanny a gift on her next shopping trip. She wanted to celebrate the fact that Yanny could now hear.
When Jackson came home that night, Serenity asked him about the news she had seen during the day. “What’s the deal with the mall? Did you have anything to do with the sudden demolition of the mall?
Serenity’s question was straightforward, and so was Jackson’s answer, “Yeal”
