Without hesitation, Dwayne replied, “Didn't you also have a bad reputation before? Despite that, Artemis is willing to marry you. Since I'm someone who hangs out with him, what's wrong with following his example?”

Not only was Bailey not mad when she heard Dwayne bring up her former notoriety, but she guffawed instead. “All right, I'll leave Vicky to you. If you can cheer her up, you're considered to have passed her best friend's test.”

“Thank you, Bailey.”

Inside a bedroom at the Jefferson residence, Beatrice sat on the bed as she answered her phone.

Her expression grew hideous as she listened to the report from the person on the phone.

“What did you just say? Artemis actually threw Ronni to the beggar and let him ruin her?”

“Y-Yes. That's what I found out from my investigation. Mrs. Jefferson, Ms. Rhonda is in quite a bad state.”

Beatrice's grip on the phone tightened.

Even if her daughter's reputation was currently in tatters, she had no intention of forcing Rhonda into an early grave.

Rhonda was her only daughter. Beatrice had planned to rely on Rhonda as she grew old with age.

“Bring her back to the Jefferson residence immediately!”

“I...” The person on the other end wavered for a moment before gritting his teeth and continuing, “Mr. Luther arranged for a twenty-four-hour surveillance on Ms. Rhonda. We are unable to take any action. Moreover, she is already the beggar's legally wedded wife. It's only natural for her husband to keep her by his side, so we are unable to file a police report either.”

“You...” Beatrice was so enraged that her jaws creaked with the force of her gritted teeth.

She was about the reprimand the person when she suddenly thought of something. A smile appeared on her face.

That b*tch Zoey fed Ronni abortifacient. She even messed up Ronni's and Artemis' wedding. Since Zoey hates Ronni the most, I'll force her to rescue Ronni and make her feel disgusted.

With that, Beatrice hung up the phone. She then proceeded to contact a delivery person at Hallsbay's post office.

“Hello, is this the post office? I have some documents that need to be sent. Could you please come to the Jefferson residence?”

Meanwhile, inside a five-star hotel, Scarlett started bawling the moment she saw her mother.

“M-Mom! Y-You need to back me up and seek justice for me!”

A pained expression flitted across Tamara's face when she looked at her sobbing daughter in her embrace.

Scarlett had been sickly when she was younger. Seven years ago, she had finally been cured, but she was currently afflicted with love sickness and was suffering because of it.

“Lettie, I came to Hallsbay precisely for the sake of your marriage with Justin. Rest assured, you will be the one who marries into the Xuereb family.”

“B-But, he...”

“I heard about your situation. I thought Raiden came to Hallsbay to help you. I truly did not expect him to... Ugh, men are so unreliable.”

Scarlett's eyes immediately clouded over when she heard her mother mention Raiden. Her thoughts turned to Bailey, the person who opposed her at every turn and the one who caused her downfall.

“Mom, you may not know this, but Raiden fell for Bailey. That woman has a son and a daughter. If Raiden really manages to woo her, the Fletcher family will have to take in two bastard children.”

“What did you just say?” Tamara widened her eyes and glared at Scarlett in disbelief. “Raiden fell for a woman who already has two children?”

Scarlett was ecstatic when she saw how livid her mother was. I may still stand a chance against Bailey.

“Yes, he really fell for Bailey. Two days ago, he even let her board the naval warship. You know how he's always been a stickler for rules. Three years ago, he flat-out refused when you requested him to send you to the west sea with the warship. He even said something about how it's not appropriate to use the ship for personal reasons. But why is it okay when it comes to Bailey?”

The fury on Tamara's face intensified when she heard Scarlett's words.
