Waverly frantically turned to look at her husband and hinted at him to express his opinion.

Steven raised his brow slightly. After hesitating for a moment, he said, “It doesn't matter if they're my biological daughter or adopted daughter. I'll never abandon them.”

The answer he gave was straightforward.

Steven also explicitly told Zoey that if Bailey was his daughter, he would never leave her alone outside.

A true daughter of the Shurmer family should live up to the honor that was rightfully hers.

Zoey slowly clenched her fists after hearing Steven's words.

Her existence was the only thing that mattered in that household. Zoey's status would hardly matter if Bailey turned up unexpectedly.

Bailey must die.

In the living room of the Jefferson residence, Clarence slammed a stack of newspapers onto the table and glared at Beatrice, who was sitting on the couch.

“Were you the one who exposed this? Who told you to expose the fact that Bailey is not a child of the Jefferson family?” Clarence questioned angrily.

At present, there was an assumption that the outside world was mocking him for being cheated on by his first wife.

Beatrice stared at the shameless middle-aged man before her and flashed a look of disgust.

She still felt delighted by the acquaintance of baby-faced men outside who could satisfy her.

If not for the old geezer who hogged most of the Jefferson family's fortunes to himself selfishly, Beatrice would have long eloped with a younger man.

“No, it wasn't me. Clarence, is there something you're unhappy about?”

Happy? What's there to be happy about?

For a while, Clarence gave no response. He then asked, “What do you mean by that?”

The disgust in Beatrice's eyes intensified immensely. What a dumb swine. It's obvious what this is about. How can he still not guess it?

If Bailey was not a child of the Jefferson family, then this proved that Sophia's daughter, whom she birthed all those years ago, had been swapped with someone else's child.

To put it bluntly, Clarence was not cheated on, but his daughter had taken Bailey's place and became the noble heiress of the Shurmer family.

“If Bailey is a daughter of the Shurmer family, then the eldest daughter, Zoey, must be your child. Do you not realize that Zoey and Sophia look very much alike?”

Clarence was momentarily stunned.

“Y-You're saying Sophia never cheated on me all those years ago? She swapped the two babies just so her daughter could live the luxurious life of a princess?”

“What do you think? Could there be a third explanation for all of this? The truth is about to be exposed now. Once the Shurmers find out Zoey is a fraud, they'll surely drive her out of the house. What you need to do now is to safeguard your daughter's position in the Shurmer family. Only through this way would you be able to gain benefits from her. The only way to protect Zoey is to eliminate Bailey, the true heiress of the family.”

Clarence felt his body tremble violently. When he returned to his senses, a hint of murderous intent flashed past his cloudy eyes.

If the eldest daughter of the Shurmer family was indeed his child, then the only thing Clarence could do was eliminate Bailey to protect his own daughter.

Beatrice could not help but smirk upon witnessing her success in inciting Clarence's murderous intent with her words.

With so many people wanting Bailey dead, she did not believe Bailey would survive long.

That night, someone found out Bailey and Zoey shared the same birthday.

Bailey threw her phone aside in the living room. She then picked up and took two sips from the glass of fruit juice on the coffee table.

She wondered if such a taste appealed to the child inside her.

A strong sense of nausea soon hit her as the fruit juice entered her throat. She bent over promptly as she vomited into the trash can.

Artemis rushed out of the kitchen in an apron while holding a spatula.

His expression immediately darkened when he saw Bailey throwing up again. He walked toward the dining area while pursing his lips.

After a while, he came back with a glass of warm water.

At that moment, Bailey had stopped vomiting and was panting as she leaned against the back of the couch.

Artemis looked at Bailey's pale face. The vomiting was so intense that her eyes were filled with tears.

However confident or proud Bailey was as a woman, she was reduced to such a state because of her pregnancy.
