Karma?

Bailey scoffed.

Even if she did nothing, they would continue hovering around her like a swarm of disgusting flies.

It would serve her better to retaliate instead of suffering in silence.

“You brought this upon yourself. If I hadn't done what I had to, I would be the one being treated in the asylum today. Rhonda, I can't believe you could be so ruthless toward your sister and hatch such a sinister scheme. You only have yourself to blame now that you're reaping what you sow.”

Rhonda lowered her head.

She was mentally and physically drained after the harrowing past few days, so much so that strands of her hair had turned white.

Her entire life had practically been destroyed. As such, the only thing that kept her going was the hope that the tables would turn on Bailey one day and that she'd be doomed for eternity.

She bore a strong conviction that that day would arrive.

“Do you intend to keep me locked up here forever? As you wish, I'm already back to normal. Shouldn't you let me go free to become a victim of scorn and mockery till kingdom come?”

Bailey quirked her lips and said sardonically, “You're surprisingly self-aware. Of course, I wouldn't grant you a moment's reprieve by sheltering you from the masses. As such, go back to the Jefferson residence. Your retribution is upon you. You can only accept the punishment doled out to you.”

She departed from the ward after leaving Andy with a few instructions.

Rhonda's gut-wrenching howls sounded from behind her. “Bailey, one day you'll end up in hell! Just wait and see! I'll personally drag you down there with me!”

Bailey placidly got onto the elevator.

She walked out of the lobby once she reached the ground floor. With her face slightly tilted upwards and her eyes shut in contemplation, Bailey remained rooted on the steps outside the building.

It was snowing outside, and several snowflakes landed on her cheeks, causing her to shiver from the cold.

If Rhonda had been just a tad bit smarter and foregone her obsessions, she wouldn't have met with such an end.

“Bailey! You ruined the West family! I'm going to kill you! You're dead!”

Bailey's eyes widened as a wrathful bellow reached her ears.

She turned to see Chloe rushing toward her.

The latter was holding an uncapped bottle filled with liquid that sizzled as drops of it hit the ground.

Bailey's face turned solemn as her eyes took on an icy sheen.

“Get out of her way, everyone! She's holding a bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid.”

The nurses and doctors around her instantly attempted to shield themselves while scampering away.

In the blink of an eye, the asylum descended into a state of chaos.

Bailey swiftly took several steps back while Chloe continued advancing toward her while laughing maniacally.

“My oh my, Bailey, you're genuinely terrified! How wonderful! I'll ruin your face today so you can't ever seduce men again. Damn you to hell!”

She raised her arm and flung the contents of the bottle at Bailey.

Bailey narrowed her eyes and dodged Chloe's first round of assault by the skin of her teeth.

With a few swift flicks of her wrist, Bailey was armed with several needles tucked between her fingers in seconds.

Light reflected from the surfaces of the needles, causing them to glimmer as they sped toward Chloe.

In the next instant, a shrill scream abruptly sounded from the entrance of the asylum.

The needles had pierced Chloe's calves, causing such acute pain that she fell flat on her face.

She had lost her grip on the bottle of concentrated sulfuric acid earlier, which spilled all over the floor. Unfortunately for her, that was exactly where her face landed.
