In the study of the Shurmer residence, Zeke was engaged in a conversation with Steven.

Steven asked, “I heard that you were ambushed on the way here, and Raiden sent his troops to save you. What happened? Why would someone want to kill Bay?”

He knew Bailey disliked him and dared not approach her. However, he had been feeling unsettled for the past few days.

Bailey was his daughter after all. Furthermore, she was a capable person, so he didn't want to lose her.

Most importantly, she was going to marry into the Luther family soon.

If it were to be announced that the daughter of the Shurmer family was to marry into the Luther family, the Shurmer family would undoubtedly experience a great sense of pride and joy.

Zeke had a niggling suspicion of what his father was up to, and he sighed inwardly. He had been considering the idea of suggesting to his father to invite Bailey back into the family but decided to let the thought go.

Being part of the Shurmer family won't be a privilege for Bay. Instead, it might end up being her burden. She's better off without us. I'll take care of her as her brother, and Artemis will shower his affections on her. She'll be the luckiest woman in the world. There's no need to add a burden onto her shoulders.

“Don't you get it? The leader of Tarragon is Artemis, and Bay is the head of the Saviors. Artemis sent various top assassins to kill Bay. That was why we were ambushed,” he explained.

A flash of shock crossed Steven's face as he said in a trembling voice, “I've heard that the leader of Tarragon is Artemis, but I had no idea Bay is the head of the Saviors. She's a girl! Why would she...”

Why would she end up as the leader of an internationally renowned illegal organization?

The realization that Bailey was the leader of the Saviors made Steven come to the conclusion that the Shurmer family had to be extremely cautious in how they handled their relationship. Otherwise, the Shurmer family members might become unfortunate casualties in the conflicts between the numerous factions.

“Wait. I thought Artemis is head over heels in love with Bay. Why would he send assassins to kill Bay? What is he up to? Is he going to dump his beloved woman after returning to Tarragon's headquarters?”

“I have no idea. According to Bay's informant at Tarragon, Artemis apparently suffered from amnesia and forgot all about Bay. That was why he sent assassins after Bay,” Zeke explained.

Amnesia?

Steven frowned at the information.

Why would something this cliche happen to Artemis, who is known for strategizing and navigating difficult matters with ease? His cautious and meticulous nature should have made him immune to such a ploy, yet somehow he was tricked and lost his memory as a result.

“Oh, I see. Even though she has yet to rejoin our family, she is still my daughter, so we must deploy more men to guard her. We cannot allow her to fight alone in this perilous situation.”

Zeke nodded in agreement.

Right then, Bailey pushed the door to the study open and walked in.

“How did it go? Is the baby safe?” Steven asked urgently.

Instead of answering him, Bailey gave him a frosty look.

Steven flashed an awkward smile and rose from his seat, preparing to head out. “I think I'll take a look for myself. It's probably best if you all remain here and continue talking. Stay for lunch later, all right?”

After watching him leave, Zeke arched a brow and asked, “What's going on?”

Bailey's expression was cold as she revealed calmly, “Bad news. The embryo has been severely affected, and this will have an immense impact on its development. There is an eighty percent chance that the baby will be born with deformities, and even if that is not the case, it will most likely suffer from some form of physical or mental disability. They are bringing misfortune upon themselves if they insist on keeping the baby.”

Zeke snorted icily. “Let them be. They will pay the price for their own actions. I am now aware that the baby was not created in a conventional manner. The Gourd family had taken my sperm without my permission in order to create a test-tube baby. I don't feel guilty now, so they are free to do whatever they want.”

Bailey shook her head in resignation as he was right. They were merely seeking trouble.

Outside, Zoey overheard their conversation as the door was slightly ajar.

Ha! So Shirley didn't get pregnant from having sex with Zeke. The Gourd family bribed the Shurmer family's sperm bank and stole his sperm from there. That means Zeke didn't have sex with Shirley that night. I heard that Juliana is also pregnant. Could it be... Well, well. Things are getting more interesting.

Zoey was initially frustrated when she heard that Bailey was still alive, and her frustration quickly turned to fury when she found out that Shirley's baby had survived.

However, knowing the secret managed to alleviate some of her discomfort.

It looks like I can also use Shirley's baby to sow discord between Waverly and Bailey to make them sworn enemies.

...

Back at the Gezmond residence, Victoria narrowed her gaze as she stared at her phone in her bedroom.

A friend from the notary's office called to inform her that Lionel was currently handling the share transfer procedures.

To her surprise, he was transferring the shares of Saunders Group and LG Corporation to Victor.

Lionel is transferring all his shares to Victor. Why would he do that? Why did he suddenly make that decision? Is he in a hurry to transfer the shares as he is planning on bringing me overseas to recuperate? Even if he's in a hurry to leave, he should deal with them appropriately instead of giving them to Victor.
