Meanwhile, at a suburban private mansion in Manchester.

In the living room, Sofie raised her eyebrows, looked at the man opposite her, and laughed, “Mr. White, you are truly worthy of being Mr. Cadence White's younger brother. Your poison-crafting skills are indeed unparalleled. The Hoffman family has quite a few poison-crafting experts, but they were all helpless against the poison you used on Juliana. It's evident that your poison-crafting skills have reached the pinnacle of perfection. I'm now seriously doubting whether Bailey can neutralize the poison. If she can't, she probably won't show up, and all our plans will come to naught. As for avenging your elder brother, I'm afraid that might also be difficult.” Kurt nodded.

“Does Ms. Carr really think that Bailey's title of being the Divine Healer, Anonymous, is just for show? Apart from Soul Reaper, there is no poison that Bailey can't neutralize in this world. It's just a matter of time for her to achieve it.”

“I see.”

Sofie frowned, “Now that you mention it, I have a new concern. You said that Bailey could neutralize all poisons except Soul Reaper, right? So, how will we take her down when the time comes? That woman is too cunning. I can't think of any other way to deal with her besides poisoning her.”

Kurt's lips curved, revealing a sinister smile.

“If another person is poisoned, she could concoct an antidote. But if she's the one getting poisoned, creating a cure wouldn't be so simple. After all, one's energy is limited. If she gets poisoned and becomes unconscious, how can she cure herself? Don't worry, Ms. Carr. I will handle everything. Killing Bailey is not only your wish but also my heartfelt desire. My elder brother died at her hands, and I must avenge this deep-seated grudge. So you don't need to worry too much. As long as there's a way to bring Bailey to her death, I'm willing to try it.”

“Wonderful!” Sofie clapped her hands vigorously.

“I like decisive people like you. So, I'm sure this will be an amazing collaboration.”

“Of course.” On the other hand, back in Seaside City, inside the intensive care unit of Justin's medical base. Gwendolyn was sitting by the bed, peeling an apple while occasionally glancing outside through the floor-to-ceiling window, followed by a deep sigh each time.

Lindsey has been waiting outside for almost a month now, yet that stubborn son of mine still refuses to let her in. Sigh...what a waster of the young lady's devotion.

Gwendolyn thought. She genuinely adored Lindsey and felt that Lindsey was of great character with a good family background, making her and Edmund a perfect match. Unfortunately, Edmund didn't feel the same way.

“Eddy, is Lindsey really that bad? Can't you at least try to consider it?”

Edmund didn't bother to look up. His gaze was focused solely on the newspaper in his hands. He was able to sit up with his leg tied to the sofa. He wasn't sure of his exact condition, but he could feel his muscles growing. Bailey truly lived up to her reputation as the Divine Healer, Anonymous.

With such an injury, any other surgeon would have chosen amputation without hesitation. Yet she didn't give up and stubbornly snatched his leg back from the clutches of the Grim Reaper.

He once loved a woman of such extraordinary beauty and talent. So there's no other woman that could possibly catch his eye.

Lindsey was a potential mate. She was the daughter of the Carter family, the most prestigious family in Epea. Her elder brother Shaun had once ranked in the top ten list of the World's Billionaires. So she definitely had a strong backing. Countless talented young men had sought her hand in marriage. But she's just not his cup of tea.

“Mom, please don't waste her time anymore. It's not fair to her.”

Gwendolyn glared at him and mocked, “You sure know how to lecture me, telling me not to hold others back. But what about you? What have you been doing? You've been ignoring her for a month now and have not cared about how she is during this time. This will only make her more persistent. If you really don't like her, you should let her come in and see you and talk it out with her face-to-face.”

Edmund was slightly taken aback and slowly raised his head.

Mom seems to have a point. I should talk it out with her once and for all and waste her time any longer.

Edmund contemplated. “Let her in then. I'll have a chat with her.”

“Alright, alright.” Gwendolyn hurriedly got up and walked toward the door, fearing that Edmund might change his mind.

She had all the reasons to behave that way. Lindsey had been waiting eagerly outside for a whole month. And Gwendolyn felt guilty whenever she saw Lindsey. A moment later, Lindsey walked in. She felt a bit uneasy and wasn't sure where to place her hands.

She clutched the hem of her clothes tightly and said tremblingly, “Edmund, I- I...”

Before she could speak, Edmund interrupted, “I know what you want to say and what you're hoping for, but I don't think I can reciprocate your feelings for me. You should know how I feel. I love Bailey, and she's been the only one in my heart and mind these past few years. There's no room for anyone else. Your efforts will ultimately be in vain, so it's better to let go.”

Lindsey bit her lip tightly, with tears welling up in her eyes.

She choked, “But Bailey loves Artemis. You can't possibly compete with your cousin for a woman, right? If she can't marry you, what will you do in the future?”

“I'll stay single.” Edmund's reply echoed in Lindsey's ears, lingering for a long time.

You'll stay single, huh? What is it that you have, Bailey, that makes Edmund love you so deeply? The most infuriating part is that you will never reciprocate his feelings, leaving him all alone.
