Chapter 73 Avery's POV | stared in disbelief at the jacket tossed on my bed. It was clearly Gideon's, but the room reeked of a familiar perfume, and the note that had been sitting on top of the leather left no room for guesswork. "Dear Avery, Oops, | did it again. Guess you just can't keep a man to save your life. Are you even trying? Your Alpha was practically begging for me after having to deal with you for a few weeks. | just had to let him get a taste. He was soooo thirsty.

I guess Nightwolf pack might get a new Silvermoon Luna after all | would be gone before that happens, if | were you Xoxo Zara" What did this mean? Had Zara slept with Gideon? | couldn't believe it, but here was his jacket, saturated with her ---- perfume. Panic pounded in my ears. The room swam around me. My thoughts were scattered as my eyes scanned the note over and over again. | wanted to believe that this couldn't happen again, that | was safe here. But it was becoming obvious that | would never be safe so long as Zara knew where | was.

Even if she was lying, she was devious and persistent, and it was only a matter of time before she did manage to ruin my life again. And why wouldn't Gideon consider her as his Luna instead? She had all the same advantages | had to fulfill his traditional requirements. She would probably be happy to do it, whether he had a true mate out there or not! Zara had never let being a homewrecker stop her yet. | supposed it was admirable, in a fucked up way. She went after whatever she wanted with all she had. And here | was, trying to play it safe in the middle.

telling her where | was going. | would swing into town and mail it, then stop by the kitchens and see if | could secretly pack some travel supplies. | was sad to be leaving. There were people here, like Anna and Madelyn, that | would miss. | would have to leave my herbal and apothecary books, but I'd been making some shorthand notes

was already late in the night. | had been trailing her since she had snuck out the door of the pack house and right past where | was keeping watch. Gideon had told me to keep an eye on her. | guess she had been dodging him for two days, and he was sure she was up

and cheese, perhaps. And herbs. Made me hungry. She was dressed for travel, in boots and sturdy clothing. Her hood was drawn up on her jacket which was convenient as it blocked her view of me in her periphery. | wondered if she knew that we had been going in circles. We'd passed this part of the trail at least twice. Finally, she struck off in a new direction and | kept pace a quarter of a mile behind

tracking like this was a bit tricky, but she was noisy as she walked. And also her scent... There was just something very unique about the way the Luna smelled. | couldn't describe it. It was like the scent of getting home and knowing that something good was cooking. It didn't matter what it
