After Joseph and Paige had their dinner, it was still early. So, they took a walk in the garden.

As they were going to get their marriage certificate the next day, they couldn't contain their excitement. They chatted happily as they strolled along. Joseph had his hand on Paige's waist, and he peppered her with kisses along the way.

Romance and tenderness were in the air as they walked around the garden. After one round, Gavin called Joseph. "Joseph, are you up to anything now? If you're free, come and have a drink with me."

Gavin and Joseph rarely contacted each other. So there was obviously something fishy going on if Gavin invited him for a drink.

Sensing this, Joseph immediately refused his offer. "I have something on right now. Why don't I treat you to a drink tomorrow?"

"Are you rejecting my offer, Joseph? I feel humiliated. I won't take up much time anyway, so there's no need for you to reject me like this. Come on, show me some respect. I'm a very petty person, and I'll tell your father about this if you keep refusing!" Gavin threatened him in a half-serious manner.

Joseph frowned. There must be something behind this, he couldn't possibly be asking him over just for drinks. Did he find out about who Paige really was and wanted to tell him something?

After all, Gavin was Paige's biological grandfather. Even though Paige did not acknowledge him, he could not ignore his status. So he finally agreed to meet him.

"Alright, I'll go over now."

After hanging up, Joseph looked at Paige and said, "Mr. Saunders invited me over for a drink. Why don't we go together?'

"No, it's okay. You can just go alone. Don't drink too much and come back earlier!" Paige reminded him.

"But you'll be lonely at home. Let's go together."

"I won't be! I can watch some movies and play games. Don't worry about me and just go. I’ll be waiting for you!"

10 minutes after Joseph had left, the sound of an engine roared outside. Paige thought Joseph had returned. But when she went to take a look, it was Joseph's father, Hayden.

Since he had already come knocking on her door, Paige could only let him in courteously.

Once Hayden entered the living room, his eyes swept across the living room. He did not know that Joseph bought such a big villa like this. It had a garden and even a swimming pool. Its location was great and had a large area too.

Although he had given Joseph quite a sum of money, it was not enough for him to buy this villa.

So where did Joseph get the money?

Hayden could not understand this, but it was not the most important thing at that point.

He had to make things clear to Paige.

Even though Paige knew that Hayden wasn't here with good intentions, he was still a guest. So she made him a cup of tea.

"Have some tea, Mr. Dawson!"

Hayden took the cup from her and put it on the coffee table in front of him. "Sit down, I have something important to say to you."

Paige sat down sideways and looked at Hayden. Hayden sighed and said, "You are a good lady, but Joseph is a loafer. He's not good enough for you. So why are you clinging on to him like this?"

"Since you think that I am a good girl and Joseph is a loafer, shouldn't you be happy about this? Why are you objecting?"

Paige continued, "To be honest, I wanted to break up with Joseph before, but I could not do it. Without Joseph, my life is meaningless. I can't live without him, so I have to be with him. No one can tear us apart."

Hayden knew that Paige was telling him that she would never break up with Joseph.

So he had no choice but to let her know the secret between their families.

He shook his head. "Well, you made me say this. If you had listened to my advice, I wouldn't have to tell you what I'm about to. I'll just be frank. The only reason I object to your relationship is because the both of you are enemies. Your mother, Natalie Garcia, pushed my wife down when she was still pregnant and about to give birth. She bled too much and passed away. You are the daughter of the woman who killed Joseph's mother. Do you think you have the right to be with him?"

Paige widened her eyes, "You must be lying! This is impossible!"

"Why should I lie to you? Would I lie about something like this? For 20 years, I hoped and prayed for Natalie Garcia to die! I hated her to the core! But do you know why I let her go?"
