The look on Yelena's face worsened. "You want us to call the cops just because of your speculation? The news will spread, and everyone's gonna gossip about us!" She shot Leigh a hostile look. "You're bringing your grudge with Penny into this, aren't you?"

Leigh straightened out her medical kit. Languidly, she said, "If I really wanted to get back at you, I could just not treat Harvey and let him die. That'd be hell for you."

"You will treat him, or you're not getting the money." We spent nearly three million on this. I'm not letting her back out.

Leigh mused, and she nodded. "True. I wouldn't have helped the Walker Family if not for the money, but ethics is important for a doctor. I took the job, so I will see it through. I'm going to voice any suspicion I have. What about you?" She looked at Harvey. "You're the victim. You have the right to involve the cops in this, or you can let it slide and live without knowing the truth. Someday someone might kill you, though."

Harvey looked at Yelena and Clayton. He was no fool. In fact, he was the most brilliant man of his generation in the family.

Obesity only destroyed his body, not his mind. Leigh didn't say it out loud, but it was clear what she was implying. He was ruined not because of the hormone pills but because of someone's scheme. But who?

He was a kind and agreeable soul, and he was only twenty when tragedy struck. He had no enemies to speak of, so he wondered who would do this. The cops would look into those who gained the most out of this first. In other words, the prime suspect would be the one who gained the most out of the tragedy. And I have two suspects in mind.

Yelena and her son, Chester. Clayton and Harvey's mother were childhood friends turned lovers. His mother died when he was a child, and Clayton never planned on remarrying. But for some reason, he married Yelena, though the relationship barely had any passion in it.

Years passed, and Yelena gave him a son, but still, he treated her as nothing more than a guest. There was only one woman whom Clayton truly loved, and it was Harvey's mother.

Clayton loved Harvey, and he was also the eldest son of the family. If all went well, he would inherit the whole family's wealth, but then tragedy struck. He fell ill when he was twenty, and the doctor had to use hormonal treatment for his condition, which caused him to gain weight at a preposterous speed.

Because of Harvey's illness, he had to drop out of school despite his top grades. His condition ruined everything. If he couldn't be healed, then the inheritance would go to Chester, and some people could do anything for money and power.

Harvey's ruination would change Chester's life. He would rise from zero to a future heir, and that alone could justify them making a move on Harvey.

In fact, he didn't want to suspect Yelena or Chester. She might be his stepmother, but Yelena had always been nice to him, especially after he fell ill. She cared for him, and everyone called her a good stepmother.

But alas, he had no idea if that was the whole truth.

He wondered if Yelena was truly whom she claimed to be. She might actually try to claim my life. He clenched his fists and looked at his father. "Dad, I'm calling the cops."

Without hesitation, Clayton said, "Sure, we can do that."

Life was a nightmare for Clayton. He was stupefied when he found out his son cut himself and was taken to the ER. Even though his son gained weight and looked hideous, it still didn't change the fact that he was the child of his beloved.

He used to think money, power, and network were important things in life, but when he saw his son lying in the ER, all he wanted was for Harvey to survive. He'd give his whole fortune for that.
