Waverly's face turned grim. She was bothered by what Bailey said. She's right. When the others call Bailey an illegitimate child, they're also questioning the Shurmer family's legitimacy. Although we won't suffer any physical losses, it's still embarrassing.

“If you don't agree to become the Shurmer family's adopted daughter, I'll just tell everyone that I gave birth to a pair of fraternal twins back then. You either acknowledge Bay and tell the public Zoey is the Shurmer family's adopted daughter or keep that precious daughter of yours that you've been taking care of for over two decades. Stop bothering my daughter-in-law. I'm rather short-tempered. If I snap, I'll start hurling ugly and disgusting words at you. Leave now if you don't want that.” Felicity let out a cold snort.

“My mother died in the fire twenty years ago. From now on, I'm not going to acknowledge anyone but Mrs. Luther. Please go home, Mrs. Shurmer. I'm not returning to the Shurmer family, so you guys should just treat Zoey as your biological daughter,” Bailey chimed in before looking out the door. “Send our guest out.”

A middle-aged butler came in from outside and gestured for Waverly to leave.

Waverly clenched her jaw in anger and enunciated, “Fine! In that case, call my husband and my son to tell them you're not returning to the Shurmer family, and tell them not to hold a press conference.”

Bailey nodded. “Sure. I'll call Zeke and tell him that. Don't worry. I won't tell them you came to the Luther residence to look for me and force me to give up returning to the Shurmer family. Treat it as a token of appreciation for giving birth to me. From now on, my biological mother is dead and no longer relevant. Let's not treat each other as mother and daughter for the rest of our lives.”

Waverly parted her lips, wanting to say something, but she could not bring herself to. She glared at Felicity before leaving the room.

Upon watching Waverly walk out of the main entrance, Felicity turned around to hug Bailey. “Cry it out, okay? I won't make fun of you. Although you've always been acting strong in front of me and making me angry, it's okay to show vulnerability once in a while.”

Bailey was amused. She hugged Felicity tighter and smiled. “At this age, I no longer need motherly love. To be honest, I understand where she's coming from. After all, she has taken care of Zoey for the past twenty-odd years. Prior to this, she was even teaching Zoey how to go up against me. All of a sudden, I, who used to be her nemesis, became her biological daughter. Who could accept that?”

Felicity lifted her fingers to tap Bailey's forehead. She chided her with a smile, “You're so heartless! But it's better this way because you won't feel as sad. Then again, you shouldn't treat me the same way you treat Waverly, okay?”

Bailey grinned and pecked Felicity on the cheek. “You're my mother-in-law! Of course I'll treat you with respect.”

Felicity's expression went cold. “I don't want that. I just want you to treat me as your own family.”

Instead of answering Felicity, Bailey looked out the window to watch Waverly's back gradually disappeared from her sight. I shouldn't feel anything for that woman. If I get sad, that will mean she has won. She never loved me, so I don't need her. After all, it's not like I lack motherly love.

In the CEO's office of one of the branch offices of LG Corporation, Lionel was reading a few urgent documents he had received from all around the world.

Right then, his assistant pushed the glass door open and walked in.
